HT Media Limited and its subsidiaries have decided to surrender multiple FM radio licences across key Indian markets, citing financial and strategic unviability of the stations.
In a regulatory filing with the BSE and NSE, HT Media said its Board of Directors, along with those of subsidiaries Next Radio Limited and HT Music & Entertainment Company Limited, approved the surrender of radio licences issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB).
The licences being surrendered include Radio Nasha 91.9 FM in Mumbai operated by HT Media, Radio One 94.3 FM stations in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru operated by Next Radio, and Fever 91.9 FM in Chennai operated by HT Music & Entertainment Company.
The company said applications for surrender of the licences are being submitted to the MIB. The closures are expected to take effect from June 15, 2026.
According to the filing, the affected radio stations contributed Rs 29.19 crore in turnover during FY25, accounting for 1.62% of the company’s consolidated revenue. The stations reported a combined negative net worth of Rs 172.08 crore as of March 31, 2025.
HT Media stated that the radio stations were considered “financially and strategically unviable.” The licences were otherwise valid until 2030 and 2031, depending on the station.
