For this year’s Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, HCG Cancer Hospital Colaba marked the occasion by running an awareness campaign on the importance of early cancer screening among local communities in and around Colaba, Mumbai. As part of the campaign, hospital staff distributed more than 25,000 cancer screening vouchers to local Mumbaikars.

At HCG, we not only wanted to bring this hope for our patients and their families at the hospitals but also create an awareness amongst the local community on the importance of early cancer screening as well.
“Detecting any form of cancer at an early stage will also help patients seek the right treatment at the right time. This in turn will also help them live a long and dignified life as well,” Choubey added.

Thereby, this was an auspicious time to promote early cancer screening which in turn also helps individuals and their families detect, diagnose and treat cancer at an early stage.
“We are confident that in the coming days, we will promote a healthy practice of early screening and create a vigilant community for future generations as well,” Chauhan added.
On Ganesh Chaturthi, doctors and hospital staff performed the Ganpati Sthapana, marking the start of five days of celebrations at the hospital. Clinicians and team members took part in the rituals, creating a sense of togetherness within the hospital. The celebrations were conducted in line with patient safety, infection prevention and other hospital guidelines.
As the festivities continued, hospital staff visited local communities in Colaba and nearby areas, conducting awareness sessions on how regular screening and advanced tests can help detect cancer early. Volunteers distributed cancer screening vouchers after these sessions.
On the final day, the hospital held a Visarjan rally from its premises in Colaba to Girgaon Chowpatty, distributing cancer screening vouchers to devotees and the local community along the way. Those who claim the vouchers can avail screening services, including PSA, Mammography, Sonomammography, Ultrasonography (USG) and PET-CT scans for detecting various types of cancer. Through this campaign, the hospital expects several patients to visit and use its services in the coming months.
