OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Go, an India-only subscription plan priced at Rs 399 per month. The launch comes shortly after OpenAI founder Sam Altman said in a podcast that India may soon become its biggest market. India is already the company’s second largest market after the United States.
ChatGPT Go provides users with 10 times more messages, 10 times more image generations, 10 times more file uploads, and twice as much memory compared with the free plan. It also includes extended access to GPT-5, multimodal tools like image generation and file uploads, advanced data analysis, and access to projects, tasks, and custom GPTs. API usage is billed separately.
Subscriptions are billed monthly and can be canceled anytime. Users can subscribe by logging into ChatGPT, selecting their profile icon, choosing Upgrade Plan, and then selecting Try Go. Payments can be made via credit cards and UPI.
ChatGPT Go offers higher usage limits than the free plan, though limits may vary based on system conditions. Subscriptions can be managed through the settings section, where invoices can be viewed and plans canceled. Refunds may be requested if billing issues occur, and users may apply for VAT or GST exemption if eligible.
OpenAI confirmed that ChatGPT Go is available only in India at this time, with expansion to other countries planned in the future. Currently, no annual billing option is available.
ChatGPT Go differs from ChatGPT Plus, which is priced at Rs 1,999 per month. While Go provides extended access to GPT-5, multimodal tools, and longer memory, Plus includes access to additional models, deep research, agent mode, and Sora video creation. Existing Plus or Pro subscribers can switch to Go at the end of their billing cycle.
ChatGPT Go does not include access to legacy models, connectors, or Sora. However, the subscription features are also available when using 1-800-ChatGPT on WhatsApp.
