Ahead of its October 2 theatrical release, Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil is expanding its India launch beyond theatres with a nationwide marketing campaign targeting children, families and generations of Doraemon fans. The film will also be released in 4DX, offering audiences a more immersive way to experience Doraemon and his friends’ deep-sea adventure.
Presented in India by TV Asahi and released theatrically in association with PVR INOX Pictures, the film’s India marketing and licensing programme is being led by Black White Orange (BWO), with consulting provided by Happening 365 Synergies. An extensive network of partners has come together to create a 360° campaign across consumer touchpoints.
Tetsuo Yajima, Director of Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil, said: “Hello, everyone in India. I’m Tetsuo Yajima, the director. I’m truly delighted to bring Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil to audiences in India. 10,928 meters – the deepest point in the ocean ever reached by humankind. Only 13 people have actually gone there; apparently fewer than the number of people who have travelled to space. And beyond that unknown world lies something even further beyond. What kinds of creatures might live there? What breathtaking sights might await us? Doesn’t it make you excited just thinking about it? Let’s join Doraemon and his friends on an adventure into a deep-sea world that no one has ever seen before! I look forward to seeing you at the theatre.”
The movie campaign has established a strong out-of-home & digital presence across key markets, complemented by branded buses and auto-rickshaws that bring the iconic blue character to the streets.
A dedicated school contact programme is connecting the film with its core audience of children and families, while a special association with Kidzania brings the world of Doraemon to life through an immersive edutainment experience.
The campaign further extends across digital, radio, experiential and retail touchpoints, creating a sustained build-up to the theatrical release. With Doraemon having been part of Indian childhoods for generations, the campaign has been designed to combine nostalgia for longtime fans with a fresh cinematic experience for a new generation.
The film marks the 45th theatrical feature in the iconic Doraemon franchise, bringing a new cinematic interpretation of the beloved property to audiences while retaining the familiarity and nostalgia that generations of fans associate with the character.
The campaign momentum was further amplified with the film’s India premiere in Mumbai on September 26, ahead of its nationwide theatrical release. The premiere brought together the film’s producers, influencers, media personalities, children and families for an evening celebrating Doraemon and the upcoming cinematic adventure.
The India launch is being supported by an extensive network of official partners, bringing together expertise across licensing, marketing, digital, outdoor, edutainment, radio and consumer products, including Black White Orange (BWO), Fanthology, Econama, KidZania, RED FM, ANA India, Nitori Japan and Yakult Danone India. Together, these partnerships extend the Doraemon experience well beyond the cinema, creating multiple touchpoints for fans across India.
With the campaign now rolling out across the country, anticipation is building for Doraemon’s return to the big screen.
Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil releases in cinemas across India on October 2, 2026 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, including select 4DX theatres.
