Vani Rane has been elevated to the role of Vice President – Branded Entertainment & IPs at JioStar, marking a significant new chapter in a career that has spanned more than two decades across television, OTT, and digital media.
Rane, a creative leader known for building creative teams and full-stack studios from the ground up, had most recently served as Head of Creative at JioStar Creative Works, a position she held since joining the company in September 2021. Her new role sees her taking on expanded responsibilities overseeing branded entertainment and intellectual property development for the media giant.
In a LinkedIn post announcing her elevation, Rane reflected on the evolving nature of the storytelling industry, writing: “Over the last 20 years, I’ve survived: ‘TV is dead.’ ‘Digital is dead.’ ‘Branded Content is dead.’ Turns out, storytelling is annoyingly resilient.”
“Now AI has entered the chat. And for the first time in a long time, it genuinely feels like we’re at the start of something new at Jiostar Creative Works.
“Excited to take on the new title as VP – Branded Entertainment & IPs at JioStar and where big ideas meet technology meet scale! Let’s see how long before someone declares: ‘AI is dead’.”
Rane brings more than 20 years of experience in content development, brand storytelling, and production across multiple platforms. During her nearly five-year tenure at JioStar, she has overseen a range of high-profile projects, including “Hardly Working – Season 2,” a five-episode corporate comedy series featuring comedians Gaurav Kapoor, Sumukhi Suresh, Chirag Panjwani, Aashish Solanki, and Urooj Ashfaq. She also led “Nykaa Wali Shaadi,” billed as India’s first bridal beauty series, and “Swipe Ride” featuring Shruti Haasan and Nandinee Khosla for Tinder India.
Prior to joining JioStar, Rane served as Vice President – Creative at Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited’s Network Brand Solutions, and held leadership roles at Culture Machine Media Pvt. Ltd., Monozygotic Solutions, and Blue Magic Films. Earlier in her career, she spent four years at Maxus in various content leadership positions, and held production roles at BBC Worldwide, Turner Broadcasting, and Times Television Network.
