Samir Gupta, Managing Director of Continental Tyres India and Regional Head of Central Asia, has announced his decision to step down from his role, marking the end of over 13 years with the company.
In a LinkedIn post, Gupta described the move as a “conscious break” aimed at reflection and renewal. “I have decided to step down from my role as Managing Director, India and take a pause,” he wrote, adding that he intends to “reflect, recharge and thoughtfully shape the next chapter” of his career, focusing on purpose-driven opportunities aligned with his strengths.
Gupta emphasized a long-held professional belief in his message: “The biggest roadblock to growth is the fear of losing what we already have. Stepping into the unknown is where the real progress begins.” He also expressed gratitude to mentors, colleagues, and customers who supported him throughout his journey.
During his tenure at Continental AG, Gupta held multiple leadership roles across India and international markets. These included Managing Director of Continental Tyres Malaysia and Regional Head of Central Asia, as well as leadership positions in Thailand and India. His work spanned business transformation initiatives, governance, risk management, and cross-cultural leadership across diverse geographies.
Before joining Continental, Gupta spent over a decade at Castrol India Ltd, where he served as National Sales Manager for high-performance lubricants, leading national strategy, P&L management, and key account operations. His early career also included roles at ITW Signode India Ltd, where he managed regional operations.
His exit marks the end of a significant leadership chapter at Continental Tyres India, where he played a key role in shaping business growth and strengthening regional operations.
