Sony LIV announces the release of its original web series 13th on 1st October 2025. Inspired by the life and vision of educator Mohit Tyagi (MT Sir), the series explores the exam-prep culture for competitive exams. The title “13th” refers to the “drop year” after Class 12, when thousands of students focus on cracking the IIT-JEE entrance examination.

The central character is Mohit Tyagi (MT Sir), whose free tutorials in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics on YouTube have reached over 20 lakh students. His channel, followed by more than 2.2 million students, provides systematic coaching accessible to students across the country. While families spend significant amounts on coaching in Kota, Tyagi offers the same level of guidance for free.

His consistent approach over two decades has produced many Top-100 ranks, emphasizing habit over hype. By making coaching accessible to students from diverse backgrounds, Tyagi has influenced mentorship practices in education. Turning down high-paying opportunities, he chose to focus on free education.

13th stars Gagan Dev Riar as the mentor, portraying a realistic and inspiring role. The series captures the demands of competitive exams, the emotional challenges of repeated attempts, and student resilience. Beyond academics, it portrays students as individuals with dreams, fears, and financial struggles. The series also depicts coaching hubs, family sacrifices, student isolation, and support systems that can make a difference.

Mohit Tyagi, B. Tech., Director, Competishun said, “For me, teaching has always been about much more than solving equations or preparing for exams. It’s about creating resilience, cultivating discipline, and informing students that they are more than their marks or rankings. From my perspective, in 13th, I see the untold stories of lakhs of youth who have gigantic pressure but still have dreams. The reason why this series is different is that it talks about their struggle in honesty and sympathy. I hope that it provides confidence to students, understanding to parents, and greater respect from society for their path.”

Sony LIV presents the series as a reflection of student aspirations. Through Mohit Tyagi’s approach, where education serves as a tool for empowerment, the series aims to connect with students and families across the country.

Releasing on 1st October 2025, 13th will be available exclusively on Sony LIV. The series not only entertains but also prompts discussions about pressure, determination, and academic success. Viewers can follow the series online via #My13thStory and #13thOnSonyLiv.
