Pocket FM has released the fourth chapter of its documentary series, Sound of Courage, featuring Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna. The latest film traces Bopanna’s journey through injuries, self-doubt and age-related challenges during his career.
The documentary highlights his path to becoming the oldest player to attain the World No. 1 ranking in men’s doubles, focusing on the resilience and perseverance behind the achievement.
The latest chapter turns its focus to tennis player Rohan Bopanna, whose toughest opponent was never across the net, but the expectations that came with time itself. From picking up a racquet as a young boy to representing India for over two decades, Bopanna built his life around tennis. But as injuries mounted, recovery became harder, and questions about retirement grew louder, the conversation around him shifted from what he could still achieve to when he should stop.
Rather than accepting the ending others had written for him, Bopanna chose reinvention. He adapted his training, prioritised recovery, embraced change, and continued believing in himself when many believed his best years were behind him. At 43, he defied expectations to become the oldest first-time World No. 1 in men’s doubles, rewriting the narrative around longevity in professional sport and proving that passion, resilience and self-belief can outlast age.
Vineet Singh, Global Head, Brand Marketing, Communications, Partnerships and Public Affairs, Pocket FM, said, “Every chapter of Sound of Courage begins with a simple belief that courage is universal, and Rohan’s journey embodies that spirit. “Across the world, there are people who quietly redefine what’s possible because they choose to believe in themselves, even when others may not. Through Sound of Courage, we’ve celebrated stories of young changemakers creating global impact, and individuals who refused to accept limitations placed upon them.”
“Rohan’s story is another powerful reminder that courage is not just about overcoming external obstacles, but also about refusing to let age, doubt or public opinion define your journey. His achievement inspires us to believe that our greatest milestones can still lie ahead,” Singh added.
The new film builds on the growing legacy of Sound of Courage, reinforcing Pocket FM’s belief that courage takes many forms. Whether it is breaking barriers in sport, creating change within communities, or challenging society’s expectations around age, every chapter celebrates individuals who choose purpose over fear and conviction over convention.
Rooted in perseverance, resilience and self-belief, Rohan Bopanna’s story reminds us that while time moves forward for everyone, it never has the final say. Sometimes, the greatest victories come when we choose to keep believing in ourselves long after others have stopped.
Sound of Courage is Pocket FM’s immersive documentary series that celebrates people and communities who choose conviction over convention, tuning out the noise around them to follow the voice that matters most, their own.
The film was conceptualised by Pocket Entertainment’s in-house creative team, which led the visualisation, direction and production.
