The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Mumbai is set to roll out the Spring 2019 season of the Symphony Orchestra of India. The highly awaited annual offering will regale music lovers from Monday 04th February to Saturday 16th February 2019.

Across four concerts, this season will feature performances on the works of legendary composers, and will also present internationally acclaimed soloists along with Marat Bisengaliev, Music Director – Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI) and Zane Dalal, Associate Music Director – Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI).

The Symphony Orchestra of India Spring 2019 will commence with a programme conducted by respected British conductor Martyn Brabbins, who is also the Music Director of the English National Opera. The season opener, on 4th Feb, will feature violinist and the SOI Music Director Marat Bisengaliev performing the works of Weber, Saint-Saëns & Rachmaninoff.

On February 9th & 10th, Martyn Brabbins will conduct the SOI and joint choirs from India and abroad in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, which includes the famous Ode to Joy, sung to text based on a poem by Friedrich Schiller.

Internationally renowned cast of soloists – Andreas Haefliger, Sophie Bevan, Catherine Wyn-Rogers, Amar Muchhala and Neal Davies will join the Kazakh State Capella, Living Voices Mumbai, and the SOI for these performances.

The season will conclude with a performance by SOI Associate Music Director Zane Dalal featuring Zakir Hussain’s Peshkar, a concerto for tabla and orchestra, commissioned by the SOI on 16th February.
