Apollo Hospitals Bengaluru announces the appointment of cardiovascular and aortic surgeon Dr Niranjan Hiremath as Senior Consultant at its Bengaluru unit, strengthening the hospital’s portfolio in advanced cardiac and aortic care. The appointment is aimed at boosting the hospital’s capabilities in valve-repair procedures, complex aortic surgeries and endovascular interventions at a time when demand for specialised cardiovascular treatment continues to rise in the region.
Dr Hiremath, who has over a decade of experience in managing high-risk cardiac and aortic cases, has worked across institutions in India and abroad. He completed his MBBS from JJMMC Davanagere, followed by MS in General Surgery and MCh in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Over the years, he has pursued fellowships in vascular and endovascular surgery, with focused training in aortic reconstruction and minimally invasive valve-based procedures. His clinical expertise includes aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve reconstruction, hybrid endovascular surgeries and structural heart interventions.
Hospital officials said his appointment will help scale up Apollo Hospitals Bengaluru’s specialised cardiovascular programmes, especially in the areas of complex aortic disease management and valve-preserving surgeries. The hospital is also working on expanding its structural heart programme to cater to younger patients presenting with advanced cardiac conditions.

Before joining Apollo Hospitals Bengaluru, Dr Hiremath worked with cardiac centres where he handled high-acuity cases, including dissections, aortic root enlargement, redo cardiac surgeries and complex valvular pathologies. He has also contributed to research in aortic disorders and is known for advocating early diagnosis in thoracic and abdominal aortic conditions, which often remain undetected until they progress into emergencies.
With the addition to its senior medical team, Apollo Hospitals said it expects to further consolidate its position as a referral centre for complex cardiovascular and aortic cases from across Karnataka and neighbouring states. The hospital noted that advancements in aortic and valve-repair procedures are driving a shift towards early and less invasive interventions, and specialists like Dr Hiremath will play a key role in shaping this transition.
