Malayalam Zee 5 drama Balan: The Boy has recorded 100 million viewing minutes within days of its digital premiere on the platform. Premiering on 31st July 2026, the film has carried forward its theatrical performance, emerging as a Malayalam title on Malayalam Zee 5 this year.
Directed by filmmaker Chidambaram, known for Manjummel Boys, with story and screenplay by Jithu Madhavan, director of Aavesham, Balan: The Boy is a coming-of-age drama that explores the bond between a mother and son, while delving into themes of love, loss, resilience, identity and the search for truth.
The film stars Adhisheshan K. R., Muhammad Zinaan, Farzana Palathingal, Jean Paul Lal, Dolly June, Girish A. D. and Beena Antony, with Tovino Thomas in an extended cameo. The title is streaming on Malayalam Zee 5 in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.
