Star Plus is expanding its reality entertainment slate with the launch of India Ke Top 1%, a new unscripted format hosted by Anil Kapoor that aims to redefine how intelligence is showcased on television. Positioned as a high-stakes competition, the show will move beyond traditional quiz formats centred on factual recall, instead testing contestants on reasoning, logic, observation, mental agility and decision-making under pressure.
The broadcaster said the format is designed to challenge conventional notions of intelligence in an age of information overload, focusing on how participants process information, identify patterns, solve problems and make split-second decisions. As the competition progresses through increasingly complex challenges, contestants will compete for the distinction of being recognised among India’s top 1% thinkers, with the show celebrating common sense, composure and analytical ability as much as knowledge.

Opening up about why India Ke Top 1% resonates with him, Anil Kapoor said, I have always believed that India is a nation driven by raw instinct, unmatched observation, and incredible street-smartness. Walk down any street in our country, and you will find people who can outsmart anyone under the sun, not because they memorized an encyclopedia, but because their brainpower is sharpened by life experiences.
