Tell us about your show, and what it’s all about. What it means to you, and why you like doing it. What makes it unique?
Since 2012, I have been hosting the Morning No. 1 that airs from 6am to 12pm. The show centers around local issues, news and prank calls for the element of fun.
Were you always planning to be an RJ, or did you sort of stumble onto it?
I was always an ardent listener of radio. But the moment that inspired me to become an RJ was when one fine day I got a chance to visit the studio to collect a free goodie.
Did you undergo any special training to become an RJ?
I did not undergo any special training but I worked as an intern in radio for about 9 months in Surat.
What do you like most about being an RJ?
As an RJ you get to bring a smile on people’s faces. Also, I can be myself when I am on air, which works like magic.
You Mentioned impact. What kind of impact does your show have on the city and its listeners?
I make sure to pick such issues that gets a voice of the common people. At the same time, I try to address them to the concerned authorities for the impact.
List three traits and skills that you consider important for anyone who wants to connect with listeners on FM Radio as an RJ.
Communication Skills, an understanding the city and being aware of the target audience are the key skills that RJs should hone.
If someone wants to become an RJ, what kind of training can s/he get? Avenues in and around your city? Any tips?
I strongly suggest taking up an internship in radio to understand its various aspects.
Who are your most important work partners at your station – Music manager, Producer, Social Media Managers, Native content ad marketers, and why?
It has to be my producer. He is the one with whom I discuss the fabric and content that goes in the show.

What advice would you give to young people who want to join the Radio Industry either as an RJ or in any other production functions?
Don’t try to be someone else. Keeping exploring yourself and try to find that unique quality that could define you best. Always remember, it’s the journey that matters.

You have a great opportunity and are doing good work. How do you try to make your show more engaging? What is your constant quest as an emotional and welcome connection with listeners’ lives?
