Instagram users can now change post music without losing reach: Here’s how it works

Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to change the music attached to already published feed posts and carousels without affecting existing engagement metrics such as likes, comments, shares or reach.

The update enables users to replace the audio on a published post by selecting the Edit option and choosing a new track. Previously, users had to delete and re-upload content if they wanted to change the music, which could result in the loss of accumulated engagement.

The feature is aimed at providing creators and users with greater flexibility in managing their content, allowing them to update audio choices based on changing trends or replace tracks that no longer align with their posts while retaining the performance of the original content.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced the update in a recent post, stating that users can now replace audio on published feed posts and carousels by tapping the three-dot menu, selecting Edit and swapping the existing track.

This one’s been a long time coming. You can now replace the audio on your published feed posts and carousels, no need to delete and re-upload. Tap the three dots, hit edit, and swap your audio: Adam Mosseri

The update allows creators to make audio changes after publishing while preserving the likes, comments and shares their content has already generated.
