Godrej aer, the fragrance brand from Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), has introduced Godrej aer Plug, an electric room freshener priced at ₹149 and offering a daily usage cost of ₹2.5, aiming to make premium air care accessible and affordable in India.
The launch of aer Plug brings smart heater technology for continuous fragrance lasting up to 60 days, and is available in two premium variants—Violet Bloom and Rose Blossom. Designed by Disco, GCPL’s in-house multi-disciplinary studio, the product features a modern, sleek design to suit contemporary home and office spaces. The device enters the Indian market as the demand for air fresheners, currently valued at ₹3,000 crore, is projected to double over the next five years.
Despite the global popularity of electric diffusers, their high price has limited adoption in India; sprays still hold the largest share with a market size of ₹1,000 crore. The aer Plug addresses this by providing an affordable, continuous diffusion experience paired with premium fragrances.
Shilpa Suresh, Head of Marketing – Home Care, GCPL said, “Innovation is integral to our culture at GCPL, and our Godrej aer portfolio is a reflection of this. With consumers increasingly seeking premium fragrance experiences across homes, offices, and cars, we have continuously introduced best-in-class products — from aer sprays to aer matic and aer o.
“The new aer plug addresses the large price gap between sprays and electric diffusers, offering premium fragrance at an accessible cost. While automatic electric spray diffuser starter kits are available at over ₹ 550, aer Plug starter kit is priced at only ₹ 149, and lasts up to 60 days – a reduction of more than 70% in cost of usage.
“It is available in violet and rose — the top two most preferred room freshener fragrances in India. We believe aer plug will not only add new consumers but also upgrade existing spray users,” Suresh said.
Darshan Gandhi, Global Head – Design, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), added, “The Godrej aer plug is a compact, intuitive form charged with bold design and a clear intent — to bring delight to every home, as the brand always has.
“Designed, modelled, and packaged at Disco, our in-house design studio at Godrej, it’s crafted to feel fresh, modern, and sensorial in a minty shade that embodies calm sophistication. With its distinctive simplicity, the aer plug vividly cuts through clutter, seamlessly uniting form, function, and fragrance,” Gandhi said.
The starter kit for Godrej aer Plug is priced at ₹149, significantly lower than existing automatic electric spray diffuser kits, which usually cost over ₹550. The standalone refill is available at ₹99. Both the device and refills are being distributed across modern retail, e-commerce, and general trade outlets to widen availability.
The aer Plug product line includes two fragrance variants: Violet Bloom, which blends lavender and patchouli with peppermint and cedarwood for calming ambience and malodor masking; and Rose Blossom, presenting a bouquet of rose and mixed florals with citrus and clove notes.
