Pavan R Chawla is the Founder-Editor of MediaBrief and an award-winning media, content and communications professional whose career spans journalism, radio, television reporting and programming, publishing, corporate communications, digital strategy, media education and institution-building. At MediaBrief, Pavan leads editorial strategy, original journalism, leadership interviews, podcasts and knowledge-building forums. He hosts MVP, The Master’s Voice Podcast, and curates BreakfastBrief, alongside MediaBrief’s wider portfolio of editorial and podcast properties. He began in journalism with The Times of India Group, working across The Independent, The Metropolis on Saturday and E-Times, and writing for publications including Illustrated Weekly and Femina. His early broadcast work included reporting for Vinod Dua’s Parakh, anchoring Saturday Journal on DD Metro, presenting Western music and English business news on AIR FM, and scripting and presenting programmes for Times FM. He was on India’s first private FM network, Times FM, when it launched on 15 August 1993, presenting one of the only four one-hour episodes that aired that day. At Sony Entertainment Television, Pavan was Senior Executive Producer and helped create and supervise programmes including Aahat, CID, Heena, Bhanwar and Kanyadaan. He also headed one of the channel’s prime-time business and programming units and was its on-air promotional voice. He later headed programming and new programme development at B4U. His publishing career includes editing the Zee Entertainment Guide and IMPACT, and launching i-next, Jagran Prakashan’s compact bilingual daily, as Group Editor. Pavan has also held senior communications roles at MAX, Sahara One, INX Media and Adfactors PR. His work has covered corporate reputation, brand building, channel and platform launches, entertainment, sports, digital media and strategic communication. He received the Indian Telly Award for Best PR and Corporate Communications Head of the Year across media organisations in India, in 2004. He has served as CEO and Academic Head of the Edvance Institute of Integrated Media and as Dean and Academic and Business Head of the D Y Patil-Whistling Woods School of Film and Media. He is happiest where content, digital, business, strategy, design and media converge.
