Zee5 Malayalam is set to bring the Malayalam drama Balan: The Boy to audiences, premiering exclusively on 31 July 2026. Directed by Chidambaram, known for the Malayalam film Manjummel Boys, and written by Jithu Madhavan, director of Aavesham, the coming-of-age story explores the bond between a mother and son, the impact of the past, and a young boy’s search for truth and belonging.
The film stars Adhisheshan K. R., Muhammad Zinaan, Farzana Palathingal, Jean Paul Lal, Dolly June, Girish A. D., and Beena Antony, with Tovino Thomas in an extended cameo. Following its theatrical run, Balan: The Boy is set to premiere exclusively on Malayalam Zee 5 on 31st July 2026, also releasing in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.
Set against the landscapes of Kerala, Balan: The Boy follows the journey of a teenage boy whose childhood is altered after his mother mysteriously disappears. Haunted by unanswered questions and memories, he embarks on a quest to uncover the truth about her disappearance while seeking closure from a past. As hidden secrets begin to unravel, the film becomes a story of resilience, identity, forgiveness, and hope.
Blending drama with elements of mystery and suspense, Balan: The Boy offers an exploration of fractured relationships, childhood trauma, and the lengths one goes to in search of family and belonging. With performances, visuals, and a narrative, the film presents its story to audiences.
