Banijay Asia’s flagship unscripted format The 50 has emerged as the most-watched show on OTT, amassing 6.5 million views on JioHotstar in its debut week, according to the latest Ormax Media report. This performance reflects the show’s resonance with digital audiences and signals continued growth for large-scale, interactive reality entertainment.

Adapted from the French format The 50, the series brings together 50 personalities from television, digital platforms, music and reality TV in a grand palace. Over a 50-day run, contestants create strategic alliances, tackle unpredictable tasks and challenges to survive elimination.

At the centre of the show is a game master known as The Lion, whose voice directs gameplay, unveils twists and maintains intrigue throughout the competition. The format also introduces an audience-linked prize structure: instead of awarding the cash prize to the winning contestant, the amount is awarded to one of the winner’s registered followers, selected via the show’s dedicated app. This structure allows viewers to participate directly in the outcome.

The contestant lineup includes actors, reality participants, digital creators and influencers — including Karan Patel, Urvashi Dholakia, Divya Agarwal, Faisu and Dushyant Kukreja — each bringing individual audiences to the show.

With its format and cross-platform presence, The 50 adds to the current OTT reality entertainment landscape.
