Robi, the second largest mobile phone operator of Bangladesh and with a nationwide coverage, has signed up with the world’s largest global multilingual streaming service, ZEE5. The deal will provide access to more than 1,00,000 hours of ZEE5’s entertainment content across 17 languages to Robi and Airtel customers in Bangladesh. (Robi is a joint venture between Axiata Group Berhad of Malaysia, India’s Bharti Airtel Limited and NTT DoCoMo Inc. of Japan)

This significant partnership heralds a new era of digital entertainment in Bangladesh, and also lights up a new way for local artistes to reach out to  a large global audience.

While ZEE5’s large Bengali content library will remain the top draw for audiences in Bangladesh, the partnership will also allow Robi and Airtel customers enjoy non-Bengali entertainment dubbed into Bangla. ZEE5 Originals too should be a special draw, along with the more than 60 LIVE TV channels, along with movies, best loved TV shows, health and lifestyle videos and much more.

ZEE5 on Robi: Subscription rates

There are daily and weekly subscription packs announced. The daily pack is priced at 7 taka,  and the weekly pack costs 45 taka. To help customers quickly close on the impulse buys the spread of ZEE5 content and its attractive pricing are likely to trigger, Robi and Airtel customers will be able to easily pay for a ZEE5 subscription – prepaid customers can pay from their mobile balance, while post-paid customers can have it included in their monthly bills.

ZEE5: Access for Robi and Airtel customers

Customers can choose to access  ZEE5’s huge content bouquet through the country’s largest 4.5G network, or through a WiFi network anywhere in the country. Robi and Airtel subscribers can access ZEE5 from five different devices at a time, allowing them complete freedom to watch the entertainment content on mobile phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, smart TVs, etc.

Robi and Airtel customers can also enjoy uninterrupted streaming without any ads with their ZEE5 subscriptions. Users now don’t have to wait for a particular time in a day to watch their favourite ZEE programmes. Thanks to ZEE5, they can now watch their favourite shows anytime and as many times as they want.

Bangladesh content’s route to international audiences

ZEE5 will work closely popular Bangladeshi actors to help take Bangladeshi content to international audiences. Through its large global presence, ZEE5 will help the local entertainment industry get exposure to audiences in more than 190 countries, thereby helping it expand its market far beyond Bangladesh. In fact, Robi and ZEE5 are set to create a talent hunt programme to search for local Bangladeshi artistes for ZEE5’s Original shows.
