Tata Sky continues to extend its lead in the DTH sector in Q2 2020 per TRAI report


The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released ‘The Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicators’ data for the April- June ’20 quarter. Maintaining its pole position for 4 quarters in a row, Tata Sky once again has emerged as the market leader with 32.09% market share, increasing from 31.61% in Jul-Sep ‘19 quarter.

During these 4 quarters, Tata Sky has gained ~0.75mn subscribers in line with the growth of the DTH sector. While DTH sector grew during Mar-Jun’20, the top 13 cable operators with more than 1mn subscribers each, maintained their overall subscriber base.

A Tata Sky spokesperson, said, “We remain the No. 1 DTH and No.1 Pay TV platform having increased the lead over our nearest competitor. It is heartening to see the overall DTH sector maintain its resilience even in this quarter.”
