Greymatter-Entertainment-The-Remix-wins-global-award-mediabriefIndian format company Greymatter Entertainment has had a remarkable beginning to 2019. It made history when two of its shows — the Ummeed India, anchored  by cricket superstar and social media darling Virendra Sehwag, and Season 1 of The Remix – India, presented by singing superstar Sunidhi Chauhan — won top global awards in January, making this the first such major international wins at these awards by an Indian content company.

Greymatter Entertainment’s format, The Remix – India Season 1, created for Amazon Prime Video, was crowned Best Music Show in Asia at the star-studded 23rd Asian Television Awards held in Kuching, Malaysia on 12-13 January 2019. The Remix also won the award for Best Digital Non-Fiction Show. According to the organisers, the awards, in its 23rd edition and also known as the “Emmies of Asia”, attracted more than 1300 entries that were judged by 60 professionals from around the region, and the live broadcast reached nearly 2 billion viewers around the world.

Greymatter-Entertainment-Ummeed-India-wins-global-award-mediabriefThe very same weekend, at the 4th Asian Rainbow Television Awards in Sanya, China, Greymatter’s show, Umeed India — a peep into the aspirations of young athletes through the eyes of cricket superstar Virender Sehwag aired on Epic Channel – won in the category of Outstanding Infotainment Show.

In fact, Greymatter treaded on previously unchartered territory and broke new ground to make a name for itself in a space that has previously been dominated by international players like Endemol-Shine, Fremantle and others. The Remix has had multiple seasons in different countries, and has already leapfrogged as a major force in the popular Singing Talent genre along with the likes of Idol and Voice.

Bhagat said, “In a fast changing content world, we are excited about talking the new language with an increasingly global audience. It’s no longer only about a TV show. It’s an experience and we have to connect with the passion of the genre. Content has to fuel conversations in the community.”

Going global

Street Stars, another unique concept by Greymatter, where TV meets Digital with a strong social connect, had an extremely successful launch in Russia. It travelled to 6 top cities in Russia with a grand finale in Moscow.
