104.8 ISHQ FM’s RJ Lucky, famously known as Dubguru Lucky, is a popular mimic, voice-over artist, emcee and an evening prime time jock. Lucky is an upcoming social media influencer too with his dubbing videos often going viral on Facebook and WhatsApp. He heads the Evening Show at Ishq in Delhi and is the driving force behind the Ishq Mein Lucky contest.
We caught up with him to know more about his show, his time at 104.8 ISHQ FM, the Ishq Mein Lucky contest, about his unique style of presentation, what he learned from 2020 and much more. Read on.
Tell us about your stint with 104.8 ISHQ FM?
I have been a part of India Today Group’s radio brand earlier. This place feels like home to me. 104.8 Ishq FM has introduced new formats, music and campaigns which have been successfully accepted by the audience and I am excited to be a part of this exciting new journey. We have a lot of innovative campaigns and contests lined up for the coming year.
What can the listeners expect from your evening show?

The evening show is one of the most popular time bands on the radio. The listeners during the evening drive time are usually those who are returning home after a long day at work. From my show, listeners can expect a lot of entertaining and light content which will work as a stress buster for them.

As an entertainer and a radio jockey, how do you plan to engage your listeners through the ‘ISHQ MEIN LUCKY’ contest?
Audience engagement plays an important role in the ‘Ishq Mein Lucky’ contest. I usually ask simple questions based on Bollywood movies. Mimicry is one of my strengths and the show has a lot of it. The contest is high on energy and excitement and promises to engage our listeners.
How do you think your listeners and fan base will react to this exciting campaign?
Our listeners have been really looking forward to the contest. Our marketing team has effectively promoted the campaign and this has created a buzz amongst our listeners. An exciting contest format with an effective promotion for a sizeable cash give away has made the contest get upwards of 30000 entries so far. I am pretty confident that it will be a success for Ishq.
Could you tell us about the uniqueness of the concept of your show?
Like I said earlier, my show is a package of full entertainment- contests, Bollywood mimicry and other interesting segments. The show is high on humour and fun. High engagement with the listener comes from a lot of call-ins. Listeners get to play a host of contests ranging from – What is Love, Panga, Chain Chain and Aao Kiss Karein.
On a more personal note, how was the year 2020 for you?

The year 2020 has been a great learning experience for me. I got a chance to work on my digital content and persona. Dubbing has always been a passion of mine and I used my spare time during the pandemic to work on my digital video content, which would appeal to a larger audience. This has led to my followers on digital increasing substantially during the last year.
During my new innings at 104.8 ISHQ FM, I look forward to expanding my reach and providing my listeners with loads of entertainment both on-air and on my digital handles.
