Here’s Bulleya, another lovely song from the much awaited Karon-Johar-directed Aishwarya-Ranbir-Anushka starrer (in that order) Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Bulleya is a sufi song riding a muscular full bodied bass and rough rock riffs… A fair song that looks beautiful thanks to the sultry Aishwarya Rai who, with Ranbir, steals this promo, with the teary-eyed, nervously-over-the-edge Anushka providing the angsty counterfoil. Alas, just about six to eight instruments in this song too. Where are the great strings sections? But never mind. As today’s music goes, this one beats the average by far. Enjoy the song.
Really, today’s music is completely dependent on the videos to sound better. This one’s a good number though, with powerful vocals that you can see Ranbir’s lip-synced to with veins-bulging full-throated ease… Good stuff. Sony Music is definitely going to expect great things from the album, though how indeed music labels are surviving today at least on the physical or even digital sales front is a question that warrants answers. I guess the most important job of all Bollywood film music, nowadays, is to drive footfalls to the cinema halls, for which radio play is essential. OK, one’s digressing. Let the business be, for now.
Enjoy the song 🙂
